![]() ![]() Speaking of sitcoms, if this comic were one, the breakout character would be Werewolf Jones, whose anything-goes attitude means there's no dare he turns down. ![]() And as far as sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll, the sex is usually awful, being high rarely seems fun, and in lieu of listening to music, they binge-watch mediocre sitcoms. Witch Megg and cat Mogg are perpetually cruel to their "friend" Owl, who has personal issues with creepiness, horniness and self-esteem, but probably doesn't deserve the abuse. ![]() But as these stories of inactivity, boredom, depression and mischief pile on, the sense of ennui and hopelessness is sublimely overwhelming, and these stoners prove to be anything but comical. That's because the book's three roommate protagonists engage in a variation on stoner comedy that might seem akin to the "Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers" and their underground comix ilk if you only read Hanselmann in short segments. But despite portions of Tasmanian native Simon Hanselmann's "Megahex" appearing on Tumblr over the last five years, a hefty book seems like the perfect format for this material. ![]() It's hard to say what qualifies as an archival reprint these days, as many independent cartoonists publish their work, even material slated for print, on social media and online as it's finished, receiving the kind of instant feedback solitary cartoonists have craved for years.
